There's nothing funny about a broken humerus

Well there is quite a bit to update since the last post. Zack has continued to work hard in his class and soccer. I am still working during the week and loving it! This last week end my family was up here enjoying the Utah weather with Zack and I. The Skousens were also up here visiting their family too. It was so fun to spend time with everyone. Friday night we all went to the BYU soccer game to watch Zack play. This was the first televised game of the season! So it was really exciting for us- our family in AZ could watch it with us! About 20 mins into the game Zack had already gotten injured, it was okay after a few mins (he had just been hit in the head). but, at 33 mins, it was much worse- Zack was running after the ball to save it from going out, when another player lower his shoulder into Zack to block him from the ball. That caught Zack off guard and sent him to the ground. He landed pretty much in a tangled mess. His back was twisted with his arm thrown behind him. We all just sat there waiting/hoping he would jump up and everything would be fine, but all we saw was his trainer running back and forth getting more and more supplies. Turns out he broke his humerus (that's kind of a difficult bone to break). We were so blessed to have his team doctor right there, she got him up and took him straight to the ER where they immediately took him in to get XRAYS. He didn't have to wait at all. We were there for a few hours. while we were there my family came to visit him. We were so blessed to have two priesthood holders (my dad and uncle Tracy) there to give Zack a blessing. We decided to go ahead and have surgery instead of letting it heal on it's own with having the risk of it not healing correctly and having to have surgery later down the road. Thankfully we didn't have to wait too long. . .Melissa (the team doctor) found us a really good surgeon and got us scheduled for Monday late morning; I don't think we could have waited any longer! So we've completed the surgery and now we just have to wait until the doctor says we can leave (we stayed here over night). It shouldn't be much longer, Zack has been doing so great recovering- he hasn't felt sick at all and we've been able to stay on top of the pain with the help of the hospital staff (they've been so great). Last night, A LOT of Zack's team came by to see him. that was so great of them, we enjoyed seeing them here. We have been so blessed and I know that he's been doing so great because of all the prayers we've received from everyone. We're so blessed to have such great family and friends to support and comfort us during this time. I feel so lucky to have such great family right by us to help us through this also. Brookie and Alyssa have been so great to us and so willing to do anything we need. we really appreciate them and their families up here. I'm so glad Zack's sisters are so close and willing to help us also. We truly have been so blessed in so many ways and I'm sure the blessings will continue to come. Thank you so much for every one's love. We really appreciate it.
